NYC MAYOR BILL DE BLASIO, NYC COUNCIL MEMBER ANTONIO REYNOSO ENDORSE EACH OTHER FOR ELECTION
New York – New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York Council Member Antonio Reynoso announced today their endorsement of each other for NYC Mayor and NYC Council, respectively, citing their shared commitment to investing in early childhood education and improving the quality of life for all New Yorkers.
“Mayor de Blasio knows that you can’t have a great city without trying to improve the lives of the people that live in it. That’s why he’s fought every day to make New York City a better, fairer place for all. The work that he’s done reducing the discriminatory tactic of stop-and-frisk, creating pre-K for every four-year-old so they can get a head start on a good education and investing in parks and our communities is a testament to his ability to get things done that help every New Yorker. I’m proud of all we’ve been able to accomplish together, and prouder to endorse him here today for re-election,” said Council Member Reynoso.
“Antonio Reynoso is a true champion of his community. His dedication to improving the lives of all New Yorkers will have a lasting impact for years to come. From working to build strong schools, to helping me create affordable housing at a record pace, Antonio has been on the front lines of making New York City better, and that’s why I’m proud to endorse him for re-election today,” said Mayor de Blasio.
The Mayor has also been endorsed by the Civil Service Employees Association Local 1000, IUOE, the Council of School Supervisors & Administrators Local One, Hotel Trades Council, Working Families Party, the Communications Workers of America District 1, IBEW Local 3, the United Federation of Teachers, District Council 37, District Council 1707, SEIU 32BJ, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local One, Musicians Local 802, the RWDSU, the Uniformed Sanitationmen’s Association, UNITE-HERE Local 100, the Professional Staff Congress and the Laundry, Distribution and Food Service Joint Board of Workers United, and dozens of elected leaders.
As New York City Mayor, Bill de Blasio has fought every day for our great city. He has passed universal Pre-K for every four-year-old in the City. He has expanded paid sick leave to cover thousands of more workers. And, he has raised the minimum wage for all City employees and contractors. He has also tirelessly worked to reduce stop and frisk and pursued reforms to bring the police and community closer together, while also driving crime to an all-time low. Mayor de Blasio has expanded the number of affordable apartments and took on the landlord lobby—and under his watch, rents were frozen for two straight years. He fights every day to make our city better for everyone — no matter where they live or how much money they make.
